Prices are set for each seller, based on how many parcels they send each month, where they are collected and where they go. So PostEx does not publish an authoritative, static public retail rate sheet. Any website showing one fixed price list for everyone is wrong. This guide explains how charges are worked out, so sellers can plan their costs and prepare to talk to PostEx about rates.
What Affects PostEx Shipping Costs
When PostEx works out a delivery charge, these things matter:
1. Actual Package Weight
The weight of the packed order on the scale when it is collected.
2. Dimensional / Volumetric Size
How much space the parcel takes up, so a big but light parcel is charged fairly for the room it uses.
3. Where it starts and where it goes
Whether the parcel stays in the same city or has to travel to another city or province by road.
4. Monthly Consignment Volume
Sellers who send a steady number of parcels can agree their own rates with PostEx when they sign up.
Real Weight vs Size-Based Weight
Couriers look at two kinds of weight:
- Actual Weight: What the parcel weighs on the scale.
- Volumetric (Dimensional) Weight: A weight worked out from the parcel’s length, width and height, showing how much space it takes up in a vehicle.
Vehicles only have so much room. A van full of big, light boxes can be full long before it reaches its weight limit.
So couriers look at both the scale weight and the size. Whichever is higher becomes the billable weight for that consignment.

How Cash on Delivery Affects Costs
Most online shoppers in Pakistan pay cash on delivery, and collecting cash at the door takes extra work:
- Cash Handling & Security: Riders carry cash, count it at the door and pay it in at their branch.
- Financial Reconciliation: The cash collected is matched to each parcel, checked for mistakes and then paid to the seller’s bank.
- Liquidity & Upfront Options: Sellers may be able to get early payment through PostEx Business Suite to access working capital advances against dispatched orders rather than waiting for conventional reconciliation cycles.

Same City vs Another City
Prices reflect how far a parcel has to travel and how many stops it makes:
Within the same city
Parcels that stay within one city, such as Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad, are sorted locally and do not need to travel between cities.
Between big cities

- Average Consignment Dead Weight: How much your typical parcels weigh (for example, under 1 kg for clothes, or heavier items).
- Typical Outer Dimensions: The length, width and height of the flyer or box you usually use.
- Projected Monthly Order Volume: A realistic number of parcels you expect to send each month.
- Primary Pickup Warehouse Locations: The city and area where PostEx would collect your parcels every day.
- Destination Profile: Roughly how many orders stay in your city and how many go to other cities.
